Yesterday I finally got my hands on the comics magazine I contributed a short comic to: Komikoo Issue#6!

Komikoo is a Malaysian comics anthology magazine that showcases local talents through comics with varied themes and styles, off the mainstream track. Issue#6 is the Manga Edition, featuring B&W works that has manga influences visually but with local-flavoured stories. Below are scans of the artist line-up within:

But seeing that local festivities are around the corner and the post offices will be closed for days, I'm gonna only be able to mail it out in two stages: By this Monday, and after next Monday. Also, I'll only be able to ship out limited quantities.

Therefore, if anyone wants a copy of this mag to be sent out on this coming Monday, I'll accept 10 orders from now till Sunday night. STORYBOARD ARTIST WANTED FOR SALADIN TV SERIES!! (Malaysian residents only)

General Duties and Responsibilities:
# Work closely with director to develop storyboard based on script given
# Receive written and verbal descriptions of a sequence from the Director
# Draw storyboards that depict the action, camera placement, and acting of the characters in that sequence
# Present the storyboards to the director and other members of the team
# Create new drawings to fix and change sequences throughout the production process

Background, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required at Minimum:
# Excellent illustration and visual storytelling skills
# Ability to transform script (English) to drawing board

# Excellent Composition and presentation skills
# Ability to present work in a clear and entertaining way

Personal notes:
- For comic artists, it's a position that's not too challenging to adapt to because of similar disciplines. If you're a film buff, even better.
- Nice environment to work in, reasonable hours, TWO-DAY WEEKEND!! XD
- Working with an incredibly talented pool of artists is inspiring.
- The only place I've been where I can do display my acting (non)prowess in voice-overs for animatics with each new episode.
- It's an office full of GEEKS > Movie debates happen quite often as we work.
- I have yet to stoop to begging my parents for money ;D
- Perhaps the only downside is that the Pre-Production studio is in Cyberjaya. But it shouldn't be a problem for those with cars. And even if you don't, car-pooling is an option if you stay in nearby areas.

At this point, those who do make the effort to apply stand a high chance of getting in. So please, send in your resumes. If my Production Manager still has to ask us for recommendations, I'll cry an emo tear.

Among the perks of working on sketch cards for the LOTR Masterpieces II Trading Card Set, beside being able to produce art and have one's name associated with a beloved series, is that each artist is allowed to choose 6 of their cards that will be returned as part of their payment; They are free to do whatever they wish with them eg. keep them, sell them off in ebay and to private collectors.

I just got these babies back from Topps yesterday in great condition



If anyone's interested in them, please PM me with reasonable offers. Bargains that are struck before this Friday can be mailed off asap, because...

I'll be vacationing in Tokyo from the 6th to 13th April, so I won't guarantee that I'll be able to reply back during that period (unless I get Internet access from a cafe, etc). Cards that are not spoken for will be going to Ebay after I get back home.

I'll post my 3 return cards from my 2nd batch post-Tokyo.

Thanks to teh awesome ~grantgoboom's recommendation, I was lucky enough to be able to contribute 200+ sketchcards to the Lord of the Rings Masterpieces II trading card set (You can see my name, third on the right hand side --woohoo! XD) Interpreting the characters in my own style was an awesome experience, and having to watch the trilogy movies again for research/reference has given me a bigger appreciation for the epic classic.

The set was officially released yesterday, and I've spotted a few of of my cards on Ebay and on collectors' forums...it's exciting keeping track of who gets what/ which cards end up where/ etc. To those who are actively pursuing the sketchcards, I hope that you'll like my work if you manage to snag any.

Lunar New Year is coming a'knockin' in a few days. I'll be going to my grandparents' for my family reunion tomorrow, and won't be back until Saturday or so. So an early greeting will have to do:

Also, ~Hubby-N-Dad asked me about the status of the animation I'm working on as a storyboarder, Saladin the Animated Series. I'll be going to Dubai for a week on Thursday. I have mixed feelings about the trip at the moment; While it's a chance to experience a foreign country for free (sponsored by company woohoo!), I have panda eyes I can't seem to get rid off with PR-like work looming around the corner (so that's the catch!). Plus, lack of laptop means I so cannot get on the wi-fi at the hotel to check out what's on in the intarweb.

Hopefully I'll get to try Dubai's street food, and give myself a go at bargaining at the marketplace. And if I'm not too much of a lazy traveller, I'll try and keep a travel sketch journal or something.

1. This request thingamajig is open to Computer Role Playing Gamers of rpgs with customizeable player avatars ONLY. For example:

Just in case anyone's wondering why I've been pretty much gone AWOL, it's because I'm working as a Storyboard Artist for [link] . Work is fun, co-workers are cool, and every day is a learning experience...just that the 30 minute drive to work and back is the killer; By the time I reach home at 7PM, I just want to CRASH ON MY BED AND ZZZ.

I'll get used to the schedule in another week or so. So, just in case you were wondering...there.

Must make a point to finish the Kiriban pic, reply emails and devnotes this Friday night, and actually get something drawn...haven't done anything non-work related in 2 weeks ToT

EDIT: Also, Casino Royale? My favourite Bond movie to date. Daniel Craig dispelled whatever doubts over his suitability as 007 with his charismatic and charming screen presence. His playful verbal sparrings with Bond Girl Vesper is enough reason to catch the movie

Anyway, Hawaii recently experienced an earthquake, but thankfully the Hawaiian Peeps including ~headwithwings are a-okay.

Also getting past my current formidable artist's block, so am slowly getting back into drawing for fun and commishes again (guiltily tries to evade ~Hubby-N-Dad's gaze @_@).

And I made a bitchin Shepherd's Pie earlier. Pie is always good when they turn out well.
