Ephemeral by *aimo is a tale of lost love--perhaps the worst kind of loss. ( Featured by JZLobo )
That hurt me right in the feelings
When I first read this, I had little idea of who Thorin was (I wasn't much of a reader when the Hobbit became popular and was late to see the film.). Reading this again with newly acquired knowledge, I cried like a baby.
Can we see what Thorin does when he sees the hair-stone thingys? Please!

Love it so much!
Best backstory!
No wonder this got a DD, it's frankly amazing. I wasn't sure at first about your choice to keep Thorin's lost love hooded, not allowing us to see their face, but the further I got in the comic the better it worked. In the end, the impact might not have been as big if we'd seen their face. As a reader, not being shown even a sliver of skin of this person, much less what they looked like, helps drive home the point that they're gone (because now we're never going to know). You have such great command over expressions, as well, and use them to a great effect. Thorin's various faces here are a marvel unto themselves.

The ending breaks my heart a little bit. Kili's ignorant optimism and Thorin's patience with him, with the thread of fatalism that hangs over them... I am all for Thorin feels, but this comic brought a whole new level of them. Lovely work, just lovely. This is an amazing little story.
I like how the figure is so ambiguous. It could be a man or a woman, which works for me both ways. Also him/her being an archer like Kili, rare for dwarves and I'm reminding poor Thorin of his lost one (assuming this is under the assumption that dwarves only fall in love once). And I always love your art.
omg... that is so... awesome!

aaaaugh right in the feels D:
Seriously tugs at my heart strings every time I read it. You have a wonderful talent for conveying emotion through your art. I've read books that don't convey a story as well as this panel.
